One-day Admission ticket: $25 (advanced) online at
www.fabulousfoodshow.com, or $30.00 onsite and online April 28-29, 2012, at the I-X
Center.
Each ticket includes admission to exhibits and seating to see one of your favorite celebrity
chefs, and also allows patrons to see other celebrity chefs on the day of the visit -- on a firstcome, first-served basis.Event Hours: Saturday, April 28 — 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM and Sunday, April 29 — 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

I am most excited to see Emeril LaGasse -- but not for the reason most people want to see him. My mother suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, which not only causes memory problems, but delusions and problems with judgment and reasoning. I took care of her through the last 3 hears of her life. My mother LOVED watching Emeril! She had little idea of what he was saying and couldn't follow recipes, but she loved his animated way of talking; and when he leaned into the camera to say "Hello Mom" to his mother, my mother thought he was talking to HER. She adored him and thought that he was one of her sons. When I'd tell her that Emeril was "on," she'd rush to the TV to see him and just wave and smile at Emeril! She enjoyed him so. He brought so much joy to her life. When Emeril came to a Westlake bookstore several years ago to a book signing, I took my mother in her wheelchair (she could walk but not very far). The bookstore manager let us "skip" the blocks-long line to see Emeril. When she saw him, she was so happy!! But what made it wonderful was what Emeril did: He stopped everything, got up from his book-signing desk, took her by both hands, helped her out of her wheelchair and gently danced her around the room. She put her head on his shoulder and enjoyed every second! Even though cameras were forbidden, Emeril insisted on taking photos with her. She was in HEAVEN! It was truly one of the highlights of her last years, dancing with a young man who she thought was one of her sons. The framed photo of my mother with Emeril is a cherished possession. He provided such happiness to her with his kind, unselfish and generous gesture to a sweet, demented older lady. It is a moment I will never forget. I have always wanted to meet him again to tell him what his kindness to our mother meant to our family.
